Quiet Day

Today was fairly uneventful. I got to sleep in until 10am which was great and then we were busy getting the kids ready for preschool. Both kids were very excited to wear their new shoes and Gina got to wear her new princess shirt (gift from Uncle Rich and Aunt Toni). Dylan spent the day sleeping and eating. He had a short outing to Tiny Tots to buy more diaper covers. We seem to be going through them very quickly, so even though he will be out of them in a few weeks, we decided to buy a few more. I also bought Andrew a potty book.

Rainy Day

Today was a rainy day. Andrew really wanted to go for a walk but it was too wet. Instead, Gina and Andrew spent a lot of time listening to AndyZ, mainly "Scarecrow". Despite the rain, we ended up having two outings.

First we went to Peets for coffee. Gina and Andrew requested hot chocolate of course. We also ran into Vic's friend Adrian, they both worked for McAfee two years ago. Adrian went to Portland while Vic got a job at Agami. Adrian lasted a year and is now back in the area. Gina tried to tell him all about her Cinderella II video which she and Andrew watched this morning.

Andrew ended up not taking a nap this afternoon, so we decided to go to Los Gatos to get Andrew some shoes. He's been wearing his sandals all the time, but with the rain and the cold, he really needed a real pair of shoes. Of course, by the time we left the house, it really started to rain and was still raining when we got to Los Gatos. We bundled up the kids, and I put Dylan in the sling for the first time. He stayed asleep the whole time I carried him. Andrew got a new pair of tennis shoes and Gina got a new pair of rain boots. Andrew seemed happy with his shoes once we convinced him to try them on. They light up and have a firetruck on the side.

Tonight we got all three kids in bed by 9pm, that's a first.

Treasure Day

Today was treasure day. Yesterday, Andrew came across the Mrs Fields Cookie box that Noemi had brought over with gingerbread people though the box now was empty. He started calling it a treasure box. So Vic told him and Gina that today would be treasure day and that at some point there would be treasure in the box. That certainly held their interest. So during Andrews nap (he ended up sleeping 3hrs today), Vic went out and bought a few things to put in the box. The kids were very excited to go hunting for it and then open it up. Inside were two bags, one for each kid, filled with little toys and books. They really enjoyed it. One of the items, a doll book, kept Gina's interest through dinner at Flames. She loved changing the outfits on the doll.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. Grandma Loretta and her companion Elaine drove up the day before and stayed at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino. We spent most of the day straightening up the house since my Dad was providing all the food. Vic took the kids to the park for a good hour so I had time to clean up the kitchen. Later, Gina helped out by vacuuming the living room (with the hand held vacuum) and putting the tablecloth on the table. The kids were agreeable to the idea of sitting at the small kids table during dinner so we didn't have to make the table bigger. My dad brought over the turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans and potatoes while my brother Steve provided the salad and cranberry sauce. Everything came together nicely and the dinner was very good. It was definitely nice not having to do any of the cooking this year. Loretta brought 2 pecan pies that she had made while my dad brough pumpkin and pecan that he had bought from Draegers. Loretta's pecan pie was very good though she wasn't very happy with it. The pumpkin pie was also very good; even the kids tried it though I think they liked the whipped cream on top best.

In addition to pies, Loretta also brought toys for the kids. Andrew received two toy trucks and a race car. He was quite happy with his toys. Gina of course also enjoyed playing with the trucks. Gina received a cheerleading doll. When the hands or feet are pressed, the doll sings a different cheer. It's the kind of doll that gets very annoying very quickly. Of course, there is no off switch but Gina was good about not playing it when asked to stop.


After dinner, Nana and Alice arrived. They had had dinner in San Francisco with John and Granny Alice at an Italian restaurant near the Wharf. Apparently, the turkey dinner wasn't very good there so they also indulged in our leftover turkey.

Alice really enjoyed seeing Dylan for the first time. Dylan got a lot of holding time with Auntie Alice both yesterday and today. He falls asleep very easily when held so he was perfectly happy.

All Three in One Car

Today we took Gina and Andrew to daycare and Dylan came along as well. It was the first time all three were in the back. Dylan is on the passenger side with Gina in the middle and Andrew on the driver side. Dylan of course slept the whole time in the car. Gina and Andrew were pretty good on the way to daycare though there was the occasional complaint from Gina that Andrew was touching her. So far so good. I don't know how they will do on a longer ride but hopefully, they will get used to sitting so close to each other.

The teachers at Whistlestop were happy to see me and the baby. They commented on how much hair he has and how he looks like Gina and Andrew.

Dylan, the very mellow baby

So far, Dylan has turned out to be the mellowest baby of the three. He cries occasionally when he is hungry or when cold when I'm changing his diaper. But otherwise, when he is awake, he is just looking around, gazing at whatever is closest. At 6 days old, he is still at sleeping almost all the time stage. Even so, he has been sleeping 4hrs at a time at night and at times I have to wake him up to feed him.

Both Gina and Andrew are fascinated by Dylan. Gina loves to hold him, though only when Andrew isn't around so he won't get jealous and try to hold Dylan as well.




Today Andrew showed Dylan his duck. He likes to touch Dylan's hair and is very sweet around the baby.

I havn't had much time to update this since Dylan was born but thought I would add a few pictures. Here is Mom with Dylan 4 hrs after his birth. He weighed 7lb 11 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. So far he is a very mellow baby, mostly just eating and sleeping and not crying very much.


Here is Dylan, 6 hrs old. He already has a scratch
on his face from his long fingure nails. He looks a lot like Gina when she was born. He has a lot of
hair.

Last Yoga Class

Tonight I had my last prenatal yoga class. I missed last Monday's class because of my cold so I was really hoping to make it tonight. I picked up the kids early from daycare and got dinner on the table and baths done in record time. Despite the rainy night, the class was very full once again. We discussed breastfeeding at the beginning which was great since I must have missed it at one of the previous classes. It was a good reminder of all the resources available if things don't go completely smoothly in the beginning. Once we started yoga, it felt good to stretch and concentrate on my breathing. I am hoping it will help me get through the C-section more easily than the previous two times. The class ended with a blessing from the rest of the class which left me feeling very relaxed and ready to go through with it on Wednesday. I just hope that feeling lasts for another full day.

I am hoping that the weather clears so that we can go to the park tomorrow morning. The kids were bouncing off the walls when we came home after being cooped up inside all afternoon.

Two more days until Baby number #3...

Weekend Away

This past weekend Vic and I finally got our weekend away from the kids. Nana and Boppa came over to watch the kids and we were off to exotic Palo Alto. It certainly wasn't our first choice when we first came up with the idea of a weekend away. But with the baby due fairly soon, it seemed to make sense to stay close by. So we had a relaxing weekend, hanging out at Borders on University Ave, lounging in our hotel room, and dining at MacArthur Park Restaurant. My cold is finally getting better and so I was finally able to sleep well at night.

The kids had a good time with the grandparents. They got to go to the park and Gina had a lot of fun kicking around the soccer ball with Boppa while Andrew rode his little car the whole time. Sunday morning they went to Burlingame for breakfast at Christie's (my dad's favorite breakfast place) and then off to the park again.

Three days until baby #3...

Park Day Tuesday

I took Gina and Andrew to the park today, and we met up with Kristi and her three girls in tow as well as Lisa and Quinton, and Stacey and Gavin. As usual, Gina and Quinton had a difficult time figuring out how to play together, they each have very strong personalities but by the time we had to leave, all the kids were playing in the sand box together.
